Ojai Weekend Travel Guide

Ojai Weekend Travel Guide

Planning a weekend in Ojai? Here’s our short list of where to stay, eat, shop, hike, and unwind — with good coffee, sunny patios, a little wandering, and a very Ojai spa moment.

Friday

Stay: Check in to Hotel El Roblar, Ojai’s newest and chicest hotel, right in the middle of town. Borrow one of the hotel bikes and cruise down W Ojai Ave, Ojai’s main drag, to get the lay of the land.

Dinner + a Show: Book a table at Rory’s Place, one of the best restaurants in Ojai for a fun weekend dinner, followed by a movie or live event at the newly restored Ojai Playhouse. A perfect low-key Ojai date night or weekend in Ojai plan.

Saturday

Breakfast: Easy, grab a morning light bite at the hotel, but save room for later!

Day Wandering: Spend the afternoon wandering downtown Ojai. Browse the used books at Bart’s Books, then pop into Blue, one of Ojai’s most beautiful boutiques, for a mix of home goods, fashion, gifts, and more.

Coffee Break: Head to Rory’s Other Place, one of Ojai’s best coffee spots, for a mid-morning pick-me-up and some excellent people-watching. Very bobo, very Ojai.

Lunch: Grab lunch at Ojai Rôtie, a local favorite for Lebanese-French rotisserie, fresh salads, and one of the best patios in Ojai. Easy, casual, and perfect for a sunny weekend lunch.

Afternoon Wandering + Shopping: Stop into Ojai Roots for local gifts and Ojai-made finds, then visit the Ojai Valley Museum for a bit of local history. Afterward, head back to Hotel El Roblar for a dip in the pool and a little refresh before dinner.

Dinner: Go casual with dinner at Ojai Noodle House, a great spot for noodles, dumplings, and an easy night out in downtown Ojai. Afterward, head to Radio Roma for after-dinner drinks and a very Ojai nightcap.

Sunday

Breakfast + Hike: Start with an early, light breakfast at the hotel, then head out for a morning hike on Shelf Road Trail, one of the best easy hikes in Ojai with beautiful valley views. On your way back, stop by the Ojai Farmers’ Market, open Sundays until 1pm, rain or shine, for local produce, flowers, and snacks.

Lunch: Grab lunch at The Nest, a casual Ojai favorite for fresh, easy California food and a sunny patio. Afterward, wander next door to Noted, one of the best shops in Ojai for gifts, paper goods, home finds, and little things you didn’t know you needed.

Afternoon: If you’re not too tired, book a massage at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, one of the best spas in the US and the perfect way to wind down after a weekend of hiking, shopping, and eating your way through town.

Early Dinner: End the weekend with an early dinner at Izakaya Full Moon, a cozy Ojai spot for Japanese small plates, sushi, and a relaxed final meal before heading home.
